Check the status of your E3

To determine whether your E3 is ready to accept backups, you can check a status message in Portal.

To check the status of your E3:

  1. In a web browser, go to the Portal website and sign in. See Sign in to Portal.

  2. On the navigation bar, click Dashboard.

    If you have purchased an E3, a Backup Appliance Setup Center message in the center of the Dashboard describes the E3 status.

    If you have purchased more than one E3, a message appears for each E3. The Hardware ID in a message identifies the E3.

    Note: If you click Hide in a Backup Appliance Setup Center message, you will not see subsequent status messages for the E3.

    Congratulations on your Backup Appliance purchase!

    The E3 was purchased but is not ready for backups.

    If you have received your E3, follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide, and wait for the initial configuration to finish.

    This message might appear before you receive the E3. Wait until you receive your E3, and then follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide.

    Your Backup Appliance is up to date.

    The E3 is ready for backups, but no computers are backing up data to the E3.

    Download and install agent software on each computer that you want to protect. See Download and install agent software on a computer.

    We see you’ve added agents, but they need to be configured to back up to your Backup Appliance.

    The E3 is ready for backups, but no backups have been set up.

    Set up backups for each computer that you want to protect. See Download and install agent software on a computer and Set up backups for a computer.

    Your Backup Appliance is set up and there are agents backing up to it.

    The E3 is receiving backups.

    You can now monitor your E3 and cloud storage usage. See View your E3 and cloud storage usage.

    Your Backup Appliance was purchased over 30 days ago, but it has not yet connected to our servers.

    The E3 was purchased more than 30 days ago but is not ready for backups.

    If you have received your E3, follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide, and wait for the initial configuration to finish.

    If you have not received your E3, please contact Support.

    Your Backup Appliance encountered an error and needs to be restarted.

    The E3 is not functioning correctly.

    Press and release the Power button and watch for the button to turn white. Press the Power button again to turn the E3 back on.
