Delete a Hyper-V VM's backups from vaults and Portal

You can delete backups for one VM in a Hyper-V backup job from vaults and Portal, without deleting the entire backup job.

WARNING: Data deletion is permanent. After the data is deleted from vaults, it cannot be recovered or restored.

To delete a Hyper-V VM's backups from vaults and Portal:

  1. On the navigation bar, click Computers.

    The Computers page shows registered computers and environments.

  2. Click the Hyper-V environment row with the VM for which you want to delete backups. Hyper-V environment icon

  3. Click the Jobs tab.

  4. Find the backup job with the VM for which you want to delete backups, and expand its view by clicking its row.

  5. Remove the VM from the backup job by selecting the VM in the Protected by this job box, and then clicking Unprotect selected.

  6. Create a new Hyper-V backup job. Add the VM for which you want to delete backups. For more information, see Add a Hyper-V backup job.

  7. Delete the backup job that you created in Step 6. For more information, see Delete a backup job and delete job data from vaults.
